Rick Laws, the current President of the Joseph Greer Chapter, Tennessee Society, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), hails from the East Tennessee lands of Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. 

His career as a United States Army, Chief Warrant Officer, has taken him over the world supporting the United States Army Combat Engineering operations. During his Army service, he supported a wide variety of Army programs and engineering projects, from patrolling the former Inter-zonal border between East and West Germany, bridge building in Belize Central America, relief mission in Rwanda/Goma, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, United Nations observation points in Macedonia, to combat engineering missions in Southwest Asia (Operation Desert Shield/Storm). He was also an assistant to the Inspector General for the Eighth Army Headquarters in Korea. During his military career, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, and four times the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM), among other significant awards. He was also honored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with the award of the De Fleury Medallion. 

In addition to the many military training courses, he earned a Master of Science in Information Management Systems (MS-MIS) from Florida Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of New York. He has been awarded the SOLE Demonstrated Master Logistician (DML) designation and other professional certifications.  He has also completed the Defense Acquisition University (DAU), U.S. Army certifications in both logistics and information systems.   

Mr. Laws retired from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer and continued his career working in the defense industry. He supported the deployment of propositioned Combat Brigade equipment from US Army stocks for the liberation of Iraq (2nd Gulf War). He we also was the logistics lead for a program spread from Djibouti to Afghanistan for the distribution, installation, and maintenance of Force Protection Equipment at military Forward Operations Bases.  He last worked as a Senior Principal, employed by Science Application International Corporation (SAIC) in Huntsville, Alabama. His career has been focused upon military logistics operations, planning and sustainment support disciplines for military equipment. While at SAIC he also served as the Service Line Team Lead for Logistics Operations and solutions architect for complex contract proposals for material development and sustainment.  

Rick has had several articles appear in EurArmy Magazine, magazine of the United States Command in Europe,, Army Logistics (A-Log) Magazine, the US Army PS Magazine (preventative Maintenance Monthly), The Cold War Times, Nashville Tennessean newspaper, Elk Valley Time newspaper.

In his association with the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), Rick has engaged in historical studies, various projects and ceremonies. He supports SAR and Camp Blount Historical Site Association (CBHSA) with the Joseph Greer House Recovery and Reconstruction, which he chronicled in a forthcoming book, "House of the Messenger".
